As an artist, I find inspiration in music, film, books, and visual images and draw from those things allowing them space within my creations. Art has opened a pathway for observation, analysis, and dissection of emotion. After many years studying fine art and training as an art therapist has culminated in this work. Combining art with analysis and reflection has informed the visual contemplation of human emotion and exploration of the internal portrait.
As I’ve made the departure from concrete to abstract, these paintings focus on the reconciliation between heart and mind. Its a place where seeing becomes feeling and internal functions of emotion change reality. My work is an attempt to embody this moment of change from seeing and feeling and construct a bridge between thoughts and affect.
These most recent paintings combine acrylics, paper, and alabaster fragments to form color, stroke, and texture as a visual representation of emotion.
